2. Who This Applies To
This policy applies to all users of the Only the One mobile application and website, regardless of whether they use the free matchmaking service or the paid Love Coach subscription.

Account & profile data
- First name and a single profile photo (the only personal information visible to other users)
- Email address (used for account management and notifications; never shared with other users)
- Date of birth (to verify you are 18 or over; stored, not displayed)
- Profile properties: lifestyle, values, personality traits, relationship intent, and appearance criteria that you provide to define yourself and your preferences
- City of residence (at city level only; exact location is never collected or shared)
Matchmaking data
- Your compatibility preferences and criteria scores used to compute matches
- Match decisions (accepted, declined, unmatched)
- Messages exchanged with a match (private; never shared with third parties)
Love Coach data (paid subscribers only)
- Coaching conversations you initiate with the AI Love Coach
- Conversation history retained to provide contextual coaching across sessions
- Your conversations are used solely to provide the coaching service and are never used to train AI models
Subscription & payment data
- Subscription status (free or paid) and plan type
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe - we never see or store your card details
Technical & usage data
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Usage logs and in-app events for product analytics (PostHog, EU region)
- IP address (used for fraud detection and security; not used for advertising)
4. Why We Collect Your Data

- To operate the matchmaking algorithm and compute compatibility scores
- To provide the AI Love Coach coaching service to paying subscribers
- To send transactional notifications (new match, message received, account updates)
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
- To improve the platform based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
- To send marketing communications about promotions and new features, where you have consented
5. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contractual necessity - to provide the matchmaking service and Love Coach subscription you signed up for
- Consent - for marketing emails and optional analytics; you may withdraw consent at any time
- Legitimate interest - for fraud prevention, platform security, and product improvement
- Legal obligation - where required by applicable law
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising. The only personal data visible to other users is your first name and a single photo. All other data - preferences, criteria, location, contact details - is strictly private.
We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the platform:
- Supabase - database, authentication, and server infrastructure (EU region)
- Google Cloud / Firebase - push notifications and authentication; Love Coach inference via Vertex AI (EU region)
- Resend - transactional email delivery
- RevenueCat - mobile subscription management
- Stripe - web subscription payment processing
- PostHog - product analytics (EU region; no advertising use)
All providers are contractually bound to process your data only for the specified purpose and in compliance with GDPR.
7. Data Retention
- Your data is retained for as long as your account is active
- You may delete your account at any time from within the app; your data is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Some data may be retained longer if required by legal obligation (e.g. billing records)
- Love Coach conversation history is deleted alongside your account

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

9. Security
We apply industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. Profile photos undergo automated verification before publication.
10. Cookies & Analytics
The Only the One website and app use minimal analytics (PostHog, EU-hosted) to understand how users interact with the product. No advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels are used. You can opt out of analytics via your device settings.
11. AI Coaching & Data
The Love Coach is powered by AI (Google Gemini via Vertex AI, EU region). Your coaching conversations are processed to generate responses and retained in your account history to provide contextual coaching. Your conversations are never used to train AI models, shared with other users, or sold to third parties.
12. Children
Only the One is exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately at contact@only-the-one.com.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The current version is always available at only-the-one.com/privacy.
